Join Dr. Dale W. Manor as he returns to Turkey March 28 - April 8, 2022.
The written revealed word of God closes at the end of the first century with a Revelation that includes seven letters to seven churches. The message of Jesus Christ to the apostle John: "Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this" (Revelation 1:19). John had earlier written, "Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy" (Revelation 1:3).
Join Dale and Sharon Manor as he leads us on this journey to this nation with so much rich history. If you were a Christian in one of these first-century churches and you received a letter from the Lord Jesus Christ, how would you have replied? As we walk through these ancient cities, we want to see more than centuries-old ruins. — We want to remember what once was, their calling to be faithful — even in the face of persecution, doubt, and everyday challenges — and examine ourselves to be sure we are faithful to our calling.
We spend our first two days touring Istanbul, a city sitting on two continents that was established in the 7th century BC. We then fly to Izmir (Smyrna). The first city of the Revelation we visit is Ephesus. For five days we visit the seven churches of the Revelation. During this time we will also visit other historical sites including Miletus and Aphrodisias. Turkey is known for its leather, and we will have an opportunity to visit a leather works factory. As we wrap up these days of our tour, we take time to see and learn about Troas, Troy, and ancient Nicaea where two of the seven ecumenical councils were held. We then return to Istanbul for our flight home.On our tour we will be joined by a professional guide to help us understand the history and importance of the area. We will have many experiences, take scores of photos, strengthen our faith, and end a fantastic tour wishing we had just a little more time in this country where so much Bible history took place.
